Definition of Block Number

A specialized reference for understanding Ropeblock’s engineering codes. It explains the nomenclature for all model prefixes—HB (Single sheave), WB (Samson), HLS/VLS/FLS (Directional), VB/VBK (Snatch), HCLW (High Capacity Low Weight), and CB (Construction)—while detailing how tread diameters, wire rope sizes, and reeving configurations are structured for complete traceability.

Understanding the Blueprint: The Anatomy of a Ropeblock Crane Block Product Number

A Ropeblock product number is more than just a label; it is a condensed technical specification. Each alphanumeric segment provides critical data regarding the block’s design, capacity, and physical attributes, allowing for precise identification and selection in mobile, crawler, and land-based crane applications

Decoding the Product Number (Example: FRB 528.26.5.100.E)
  • Model Description: Identifies the primary block type, such as FRB for Fast Reeve Crane Blocks or SRB for Standard Reeve Crane Blocks.
  • Sheave Tread Diameter: Indicates the diameter of the sheave tread measured in millimeters.
  • Wire Rope Size: Specifies the compatible wire rope diameter in millimeters.
  • Number of Sheaves: Details the total count of sheaves integrated into the block.
  • Working Load Limit (WLL): Defined in Metric tons; to calculate US tons, multiply this value by 110%.
  • Additional Product Description: Denotes the specific attachment type, such as E (Single Hook), D (Ramshorn Hook), DB (Ramshorn Hook form B), S (Shackle), or O (Oblong Eye).
Standard High-Performance Features
  • Safety Engineering: Designed with a 4:1 design factor and equipped with a safety latch including a locking pin.
  • Durable Components: Features forged high-tensile steel hooks, cast sheaves with graphite-lubricated grooves, and double-sealed maintenance-free roller bearings.
  • Extreme Adaptability: Operational in temperatures ranging from -40°C to +80°C (-40°F to +176°F).
  • Efficiency for Operators: Includes fast reeve guides for rapid reeving and a 4 or 8-point hook locking device for enhanced control.
  • Industrial Finish: Standardized with a C3M finish in signal yellow with black safety striping.
