Fishing Vessel Block Distribution

A technical distribution index providing a guide for selecting the correct Sea Link block series based on their functional position on a fishing vessel (Amantillo or Maneuver positions).

Sea Link Fishing Vessel Distribution

The Sea Link distribution guide outlines the typical placement and technical requirements for various block series across a standard fishing vessel’s rigging system. These components are categorized into specific operational groups such as Amantillo and Maneuver to ensure safety and mechanical efficiency during harvesting and cargo operations.

Amantillo Rigging Specifications
  • Heavy-Duty Redirection: The Amantillo system utilizes Extra Heavy Oval Pattern Construction Blocks, including the SL643B triple T-14″ series, for high-capacity load management.
  • Single and Double Configurations: Operations are supported by SL641B single and SL642B double T-14″ blocks, typically secured with 1 1/2″ shackles.
  • Mid-Range Support: For smaller-scale redirection, the system integrates SL642B T-10″ double blocks and SL501B T-10″ standard oval pattern blocks.
  • Specialized Purse Seine Blocks: For specialized netting operations, Purse Seine blocks in sizes T-20, T-18, and T-16 are utilized, accommodating wire ropes from 7/8″ up to 1 1/8″.
  • Accessory Integration: Technical setups often feature Shackle Lira types (ranging from 1 1/4″ to 2″) and Pear ring roller types for natural load alignment.
Maneuver System Specifications
  • Cargo Handling: Primary hoisting is performed by SL561R series Cargo hoisting blocks (T-14) featuring drilled swivel eyes for secure connections.
  • Redirection and Lead Blocks: The maneuver section incorporates PJ style snatch blocks (T-12) and standard oval pattern wire rope blocks (SL502B) for flexible line path alignment.
  • Light-Duty Application: Regular wood blocks from the SL101B (single) and SL102B (double) series are used for lighter maneuvering tasks with 3/4″ wire rope.
  • Fitting Versatility: Maneuvering components are frequently equipped with swivel hooks or safety anchor shackles to facilitate rapid rigging adjustments.
  • Standardization: Most maneuvering hardware is built to a 4:1 Design Factor to maintain consistency with Sea Link’s industrial safety standards.
